The research of management system for the suicide prevention in the public sector of U. S. and U. K. and its policy implication for South Korea

Abstract
Objective£ºThis study is the basic work for searching desirable direction to complement and improve the management system of national suicide prevention policy whose purpose is to find out the policy solution fit for South Korea`s situation by looking through the main policy trend and current management related to the suicide prevention through exploratory analysis in advanced countries. Methods: This study has been made by exploring current situation of management system of suicide prevention policy in public sector and by understanding main characteristic in the U. S. and the U. K. By examining the data available on/off-line and previous studies in Korea and other countries related to suicide prevention policy management and current situation of service, this study has come up with recommendations to improve the policy of suicide prevention management system in Korea. Results: The U. S. government has sought to solidify cooperation between official organizations for successful management of National Strategy for Suicide Prevention (NSSP). In addition, many organizations of public and private sectors have made cooperative partnership to provide various and definite suicide prevention services. The U. K. government has taken integral suicide prevention policy across the country with National Service Framework for performing of National Suicide Prevention Strategy (NSPS), enhanced the integration and accessibility of service delivery system, and practiced policies fit for the individual region through evidence-based strategies. Conclusion : To make suicide prevention policy efficient in Korea, further steps are needed; increase of financial resources, enhancement of infrastructure, establishment of organization network, assurance of integrated service delivery, simplification of ways to contact the service equal to every class, service standardization, improvement of suicide prevention protocol and so on.
